Both the Angel of Portugal and Our Lady asked the children of Fatima to accept and bear with submission all the trials which Our Lord wished to send them. In other words, as Bishop Santay explains, the Angel and Our Lady simply repeated the request of Our Lord, to take up the Cross and follow Him. Bishop Santay describes the many sufferings that the children endured, and tells us that the reason they were able to carry them is because of their supernatural outlook upon each trial.
