Prepare Your Lamp - Purpose of Life

How often we have read or heard the words, “Watch ye therefore, because you know not the day nor the hour” (Matt. 25:13).   Only one thing in life really matters - the salvation of our immortal soul.  In the parable of the ten virgins, Our Lord teaches the importance of being prepared for death, the final summons of the Bridegroom.   Mother Mary Bosco explains that we, like the five wise virgins, must prepare for the call of the Bridegroom by seizing every opportunity to practice virtue, so that our lamps may be filled with the oil of good works, mortification, and prayers.
